Radio and television stations belonging to the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) will be able to bring the unofficial election results to the public right after the polls close on May 13, 2013. KBP is among those authorized by Republic Act No. 9369 to receive the election returns transmitted by the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines. The other recipients designated by the law are the majority and the minority political parties, and the accredited citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
Under the procedures set by the COMELEC in Resolution No. 9677, the KBP, along with the others, will be allowed to set up workstations to access the Transparency Server that will receive the election returns from the PCOS machines. After receiving the election results from the Transparency Server the KBP will immediately make them available to its member stations all over the country for broadcast to their respective audiences. The results of the election for both the senatorial and local positions will be included.

This will be the second time that the KBP is performing this service. The first was in the 2010 presidential elections, when computerized voting was first implemented.
