The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas(KBP) conducted its sixth annual tree planting program, the Oplan Broadcastreeing, last August 6, 2016, in Pillila, Rizal. About 400 volunteers trooped to the tree planting site in Barangay Halayhayin in Pillilain the early morning to plant 5,000 trees. The volunteers included members of the KBP, students and teachers of Saint Pedro Poveda School, personnel of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces, personnel of the Rizal provincial government and the Pillila municipal government. The project was organized with the help of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR, the Rizal Provincial government, and Alt Energy, which runs the wind mill farms in Pillila. Thirty-three KBP Local Chapters in different parts of the country also simultaneously held their own Oplan Broadcastreeing tree planting activities.
The KBP Oplan Broadcastreeing project was initiated by Herman Z. Basbaño, current chairman of the KBP Board of Trustees, in 2009. The project has received in 2015 the Peace and Environment Award from the Universal Peace Federation and in 2016 the Tanging Bayani ng Kalikasan Award from the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).
